On March 4, 2020, at the Vienna International Center headquarters of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, a side event was held at the 63rd session of the UN Commission onDrugs at the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan, in which the journal “Overview of the drug situation in Republic of Tajikistan in 2019 ”, which is annually developed and published by the Agency.
The presentation was attended by heads and delegations of relevant bodies of the UN member countries, international and non-governmental organizations, civil society consisting of more than 70 delegates.
The attention of the participants was drawn to the main trends in the drug situation in the country and the region, to the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, ministries and departments, as well as international and public organizations for drug control and drug prevention, to combat drug trafficking in the Republic of Tajikistan, to combat with drug smuggling, with organized criminal groups, to strengthen the state border, conduct joint anti-drug operations with law enforcement E bodies, international cooperation, implementation of programs and the implementation of anti-drug projects in the Republic of Tajikistan.
The event was attended by the regional representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Central Asia, Ms. Ashitta Mittal, who praised the implementation of the UN anti-drug programs on drugs and crime in Tajikistan.
In conclusion, the participants asked questions that received comprehensive answers.
